From 28 July, Turkey is striving with approximately 190 forest fires. Firstly it occurred in Manavgat and interestingly it continued in all coastlines of the Mediterranean and Aegean regions. Thousands of trees, animals die. Houses, barns, hotels are burned. Some villages are sadly not appeared on the map due to forest fires. Like the other disasters, the community tried to rescue other forests which are not yet burned. The equipment, firefighting efforts are provided by the community, not by the government. As a ÇevirWomen writer, I would like to mention not forest fires because the people who have to protect them didn't take their responsibilities. However, against other future forest fires, we have to know the damage and risks of fossil fuel plants. Fires were spread yesterday to Mugla, Kemerkoy fossil fuel plant. According to the statement of authorities, there is no threat because hydrogen is emptied and water is filled so there will be no explosion. Also ditching is done to prevent the reaching of fires to plant. Another risk is that fuel oil can be burned without reaching fires. Because even if it doesn't reach to plant, now the air temperature is so high, like 200-300°, it can be triggered easily. I mean that forests become fragile to fires due to poor quality weather conditions and drought.

We have to quickly leave the nonrenewable energy sources. The world gives the alarm. This is just a climate crisis. Did you know that we have 34 fossil fuel plants? Why? Due to the geographical conditions of Turkey, too much areas are windy, so we can easily use wind energy. Also, our country is a real sun country, due to climate crisis, nowadays days of summer are really hot, we can use sun rays to generate energy.

We have to remember that these forest fires are NON NATURAL DISASTER SERIES. We have only one world and one country.
