Dara Torres is an American former competitive swimmer, who is a 12-time Olympic medalist and former world record-holder in three events. She was born in Los Angeles in the USA and she is one of the youngest of her family which is including six children. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Dara was a part of the American team and she won a gold medal in the relay.

She also competed at the Olympics in 1988 and left there with two medals in her hand. After four years, in 1922 she won the gold medal. Then she had a break of seven years without competitions, Torres won five medals including gold at the 2000 games in Sydney. And amazingly , she competed again; in Beijing in 2008.

She won three silver medals at those games. In total, Torres has won 12 Olympic medals (four gold, four silver, four bronze), she is one of the three women with the most Olympic women's swimming medals. And I didn't say for nothing, she is the real definition of "Medal Hunter."
