Samar Barakat, who lives in West Finchley, UK, is a seventeen-year-old teenager. She is going cycle through Japon for Child Chemo House which supports children going through treatment for cancer.

Her journey will start in Tokyo in July and will end at the headquarters of Child Chemo House in Kobe, 550 kilometres away.

Our girl's parents gave her permission to do this ride on her own. She is really an independent girl and she even has no fear about traveling alone.

Samar plans to spend the night in hostels and hotels throughout the ride, which will probably take 10 days. She is going to meet with her friends in Japon so she thinks homesickness won't be a problem. She has a lot of preparation and organisation before she starts to ride. She is learning Japanese, searching for routes and looking for accommodation.

Samar says: "I believe that helping people with cancer is a good cause and I have always wanted to go to Japon when I was little. I am too excited to do it even it will be a little hard to plan everything."

She hopes in her ride she will receive lots of donations. Even if she can't do it, I think our girl Samar Barakat has already received all of our hearts. And she will be remembered as "The girl who travels towards the hearts of children on her bike" always...
